What west metro homeowners say
Word of mouth is most of how we grow, and it has been that way since 1964.
What we do
Electrical services for homes,
businesses, and builders
Most of what we do is service work: the breaker that keeps tripping, the outlet that quit, the panel that ran out of room. We also handle commercial and industrial jobs, remodels, and full custom-home wiring. Estimates are free, and every job is code-compliant, cleanly installed, and warrantied.

Most of what we do
Something electrical stopped working.
Service and repair is the majority of our work, and it is the work that six decades of west metro houses actually teaches you. A breaker that trips every few days is a symptom, not a diagnosis. We find what is causing it, tell you what we found, price the fix before we start, and warranty what we install.
- Breakers that trip, outlets that quit, lights that flicker or buzz, traced to the actual cause
- Panel and service upgrades when the real problem is capacity, not a bad breaker
- Grounding, bonding, GFCI and AFCI protection brought current in older houses
- Aluminum branch wiring, backstabbed devices, and shared neutrals corrected properly
Standby power
Never lose power to a Minnesota storm again.
A whole-home standby generator watches the utility feed and starts on its own when the power drops, usually within seconds. Robb's Electric sizes the unit to what your house actually runs, installs the transfer switch, pulls the permit, and tests the system under load before we call it finished.
Estimates are free, so finding out what standby power would cost for your home costs nothing.
What a standby install includes
- Automatic backup that restores power in seconds, not days
- Professionally sized to your home's actual electrical load
- Permitted, code-compliant installation by licensed electricians
- Transfer switch, gas connection coordination, and start-up testing handled
Why Robb's Electric
Electrical work you don't
have to think twice about
Homeowners, builders, and property managers across the metro keep calling us back for the same reasons, and most of them have been calling for years.
Free estimates, always
Finding out what your project costs is free. We look at the actual job, then give you a real number before anything starts, so you are deciding with information instead of a guess.
One-year warranty
Our work is backed by a one-year warranty on labor and materials. If something we installed does not hold up, we come back and make it right.
West metro since 1964
Six decades in the same corner of the metro means we already know the housing stock, the inspectors, and the code. No learning curve on your dime.
Licensed & insured pros
Every job is performed by licensed electricians and pulled to permit, so your work is safe, inspection-ready, and protected.
A real office you can reach
Our office is staffed Monday through Friday and a person answers the phone. You get a scheduled window and a call if anything changes.
Clean & respectful crews
We treat your home like our own: drop cloths down, debris hauled out, and the space left cleaner than we found it.
Our story
Sixty years in the west metro
Robb's Electric has been wiring the west metro since 1964, and six decades later it is still a family business run by the second generation. We are a licensed, bonded, and insured electrical contractor working out of Carver, and most of what we do is service work: the panel that keeps tripping, the outlet that quit, the charger that needs a circuit sized for it. Estimates are free, our work is backed by a one-year warranty on labor and materials, and we handle residential, commercial, and industrial jobs across the Twin Cities.
A lot has changed since 1964. Panels got bigger, cars started plugging in, and half the houses we wired the first time have been remodeled twice. What has not changed is how we work: show up when we said we would, explain what we found, price it before we start, and stand behind it afterward. That is why most of our work still comes from people who have called us before or were told to call us by someone who has.

Building something bigger?
We work with builders, general contractors, and property managers across the metro on commercial and industrial projects, parking lot lighting, site underground, custom-home wiring, remodels, and additions, from rough-in through final trim and on schedule. A good share of our commercial work is an ongoing maintenance relationship rather than a one-time job. Send us your plans and we'll put together a bid.
FAQ
Questions we get asked most
Don't see your question? Call us at (952) 448-4030 and we'll walk you through it.
Yes. Estimates are free, on residential and commercial work alike. A licensed electrician looks at the actual job, then gives you a price before any work starts, so you are deciding with a real number instead of an hourly meter running in the background. On a repair that means a diagnosis first; on a larger project like a panel upgrade, a generator, or a lighting retrofit it means a site visit and a written quote.
Yes. Robb's Electric backs its work with a one-year warranty on labor and materials. If something we installed fails inside that year, we come back and make it right. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment itself run alongside ours and are often longer.
Yes. Robb's Electric is a fully licensed electrical contractor (license EA001548), bonded, and insured. Work that requires a permit gets one, and we meet the inspector, so your project is documented and inspection-ready.
Our core service area is the Twin Cities west metro and the Lake Minnetonka communities, including Carver, Chaska, Chanhassen, Victoria, Waconia, Excelsior, and we work across the broader Twin Cities metro as well. Robb's Electric is based in Carver, Minnesota. If you are outside the west metro, call anyway: we travel, and if another crew in our family of companies is a better fit we will get you to them.
Since 1964. That is more than sixty years of electrical work in the same corner of the Twin Cities, and the company is still family owned and run by the second generation. Practically, it means we already know the housing stock here, the inspectors, and what tends to be behind the wall before we open it.
Yes, all three. Residential service, repair, and remodels are the majority of what we do. We also handle commercial and industrial work including panel and gear replacement, parking lot lighting, site underground, low-voltage data cabling, and ongoing maintenance relationships with businesses that would rather have one electrician who already knows their building.
Our office is open Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–5:00 PM. Call during those hours and a person answers. If you reach us after hours, leave a message and we will get back to you the next business day.
Yes to both, and they are two of the most common upgrades we are asked for. For an EV charger we run a load calculation on your panel first, then quote the charger installation plus panel work only if the calculation says you actually need it. For a standby generator we size the unit to what the house really runs, install the transfer switch, pull the permit, and test the system under load before we call it finished.
We look at the job, then give you a price before any work starts. The estimate is free, the number is not an hourly guess, and it is what you approve before we begin. If we open something up and find a genuine surprise, we stop and talk to you rather than quietly adding it to the invoice.
